Sunset Memorial Gardens was established around 1955 on a 17.5-acre site by the Miller family, located along Boston Road, which was then on the outskirts of town. Although the cemetery is no longer on the edge of Thomasville, we remain dedicated to providing a peaceful and respectful environment for families to honor their loved ones. In 1997, the Miller family, seeking retirement, sold the cemetery to Prime Succession, based in Kentucky. After two years of ownership, Darrell and Rudolph Allen acquired the property in 1999, restoring it to local ownership and integrating it with Allen & Allen Funeral Home, which continues to operate today. In April 2023, Darrell transferred ownership to long-time employee and trusted friend Jimmy Dukes, ensuring that Sunset Memorial Gardens remains locally owned and committed to delivering the same quality of care and service that families have come to depend on.
